Developing Research Skills:Methodological and Proposal Writing Workshop
In present context, the importance of research has been well recognized in all areas to inform actions throughout the world including in Nepal. Having in-depth knowledge and skills on theoretical and practical aspects of research methods is a key in conducting research to understand complexity of reality. Scholars who are able to identify relevant research questions, appropriate methods to collect data, examine, interpret and analyze evidence and communicate their findings excellently observing the fundamental norms of research are valuable assets for all research and academic institutions. Research must always be of high quality in order to produce cutting edge knowledge that is applicable outside of the research setting with implications for public policy and project implementation. Realizing this NASC and SIAS are making joint commitment to train, orient and reenergize the research scholars on research methods. This two-day short-term training course will emphasize on theoretical and practical aspects of research methodology including philosophical consideration in research, writing problem statement, writing purpose and research question, designing theoretical framework, theoretical connection in research, sampling, selecting appropriate research tools and techniques, ensuring reliability, validity and trustworthiness, and meaning making from data. This developing research skills initiative on research methodology and proposal writing is based on the Memorandum of Understanding between NASC and SIAS to extend support for building and enhancing capacities of both institutions in mutual interest. It is expected that the workshop participants will be able to write strong proposals to respond to various proposal calls and quality papers to contribute to the Journal of Management and Development Studies of NASC.
